I believe in honoring where we have been before we move forward.

As I prepared to share my offerings, it dawned on me how different my work, world, and life were since I returned to my roots in theater and cultivated the same in the circus.

What remained unchanged, however, was my commitment to play - the cultural work of cultivating conditions of possibility for something different.

Play as cultural work simultaneously attends to the slow, subtle work of transformation and the conditions that support or stifle it. In this way, attention is paid not only to what is created or not but what made that possible.

And if something is made that would not be possible within existing dominant systems, the question is then, how do I make this possible? What structures would need to exist for this to breathe? What structures would need to not exist?

When I look back at my work, this is something I have been doing for almost two decades.
